A long wait at the hospital

This week was very eventful! My sister went into labour and had baby Claire. It was a big suprise since she was a bit early and we all thought it was going to be a boy! I guess a lot of people end up having their baby on a full moon and my sister was one of them. Claire is so beautiful and so tiny. I am so excited to be an aunt and take Claire on many adventures. We were at the hospital all day but she was worth the wait! Thankfully, I had the day off so I was able to go to Toronto. I can't wait to see her again and spend more time with her.

In less important news, exam season is coming up and I am quite dreading it but I guess who isn't? The only good thing about end of the semester exams is that you get time off. I am such a procrastinator though so I am interested to see how I do haha. This weekend was the last weekend that was study free. I did some shopping and Mike and I got lattes and walked around Victoria Park, where they had decorated it all up for christmas. It was so pretty to look at and it wasn't too cold of a night where I couldn't enjoy it which was great.I wish I had a profesisonal camera to take better photos of the lights and just for this blog in general. In the weeks to come, we are going to go ice skating. I am terrible, so there is going to be a lot of falling and blisters. Mike thinks he will be good because he is a good rollerblader. I told him it's not the same thing but he's convinced. I guess we shall see!

Said the whale!

This past thursday I skipped my night class and headed to a concert at school with Mike and met up with some friends there too! It was soo fun and Said the Whale was awesome! It was so worth not going to class ha. They played my favourite song and Mike's so needless to say we left like very happy campers. My favourite song is " Loveless" check out the video, it is quite hilarious and cute. How could you not like 2 young kids falling in love and growing old together yet still looking like kids? To make the night better, we got free beers when entering. I gave mine to Mike since I had to drive and not to much of a fan of beer anyways. There was one guy beside me at the concert who was on his phone the whole time and not even smiling, what's the point of going? I was singing and dancing like a weirdo but I didn't care and neither did anyone there which is great. I hate when there are people at concerts who just give dirty looks to people having fun.We got home at like 1:30 and I had to get up at 7 am for class.

In other news, I do not have to wake up at 5 am anymore to go to the hospital for my placement because it is now comepleted ! yay sleep:)
Also, I know my photos have not been the best quality but with little daylight and most of that daylight spent inside due to school, it is hard to get decent photos!
I hope everyone had a good weekend!

If you have not heard of Said the Whale I recommend you listen to them! Here is there site: www.saidthewhale.com and check out my favourite song -http://www.saidthewhale.com/videos/loveless

Santa Claus parade

okay so these photos did not turn out so great! I was too cold to take pictures outside so the bad lighting in my house resulted in some pretty crappy quality photos but since I haven't blogged in a bit they will have to do!

My 12 hour shifts have been driving me slighty insane. Everyone is saying get used to it since when you are a nurse you will be doing these shifts all the time but what they don't realize is that I have homework, exams, and projects on top of that! I am just so happy that they end soon! This past weekend I went to the santa claus parade. This year wasn't so great ( where was the candy?) but it was fun to get some hot chocolate and cuddle as we watched the "floats" ( cars decorated) pass by us. Mike and I also went to the theatres and saw Perks of Being a Wallflower. It was really great and I recommend it! Other than that I have been staying in and trying to keep warm. I hear snow is coming tomorrow so out comes the winter boots! It is hard to blog when it's so cold out and indoor photos are bad quality. Hopefully I can keep it up. Anywho,I better get some sleep since I have to get up at 5 am ! Hope everyone had a great monday ( or as good as any monday could possibly be).

Mary Poppins and Bert

This Halloween, Mike and I went as Marry Poppins and Bert ( me being mary poppins of course). It took us literally eight hours of driving all around town to find a vest for his costume and a blouse for mine. Who knew trying to find a plain white blouse was hard? I would find one but then it would be really expensive and even the one I got at Wal-mart was still more than what I wanted to pay! After finally finding the blouse and his vest ( right before the store closed and the store only took cash and we only had 6 bucks in cash, thankfully she took it!) we headed to my friend from nursing's party. It was really fun and casual and we met some new people. This all happened after my midterm so I was just happy to not study and be crammed in my room with books. The rest of the weekend was spent doing nothing much at all but that is what I wanted after such a hectic week!
This is the only good picture I got of us! The only thing is that is doesn't show my umbrella and purse! Well I hope everyone had a really great Halloween weekend!

Pumpkin carving

Since I had two exams one on friday and the other on saturday, I needed to have a good weekend after my saturday exam. I was so tired of studying and I just wanted to have some fun! This weekend consisted of haircuts, shopping, and best of all pumpkin carving. My pumpkin looks scared while Mike's pumpkin looks quite scary ha. The pumpkins were only a dollar and were at some random pumpkin patch that had no one there to give the money to so you leave your money in this little box. After getting our shoes all muddy, we brought these babies home. We of course made pumpkin seeds too. We added pizza seasoning to them and they surprisingly tasted good. While we carved, we watched The simpsons treehouse of horror episodes hehe. At night we got
lazy and we were going to watch a scary movie but it wouldn't load so we watched desperate housewives. It was a nice relaxing weekend which is exactly what I needed. I have one more midterm this Saturday and then I am going to a Halloween party! I hope everyone has a good week!

Chevron

1. I died my hair auburn! I really like it.
2. Mike and I saw the movie Looper. I highly recommend.
3. I have midterms starting this saturday ( who's idea was it to have a midterm on a saturday?!). Yay for studying nursing theories....
4. I love the chevron pattern
5. I wish I had more time to enjoy this fall weather.
6. I better get going because my clinical shift at the hospital starts soon. 5 am wake ups are not fun :( . For the canadian folks like me, I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend and ate lots of food!

Colours of Fall

It was a perfect day for a bike ride indeed. On saturday, I tested out my new bike rack for the car. While riding to the park , I frequently and anxiously kept checking the back window to make sure our bikes have't fallen off the car. Luckily, our bikes made it safely to the park. Mike and I rode our bikes, ate cheese curds, and looked at the expensive hidden houses behind the trees. The weather was perfect and just had a perfect amount of breeze to stop me from being overheated and gross feeling like in the summer. The trees looked beautiful in the park. Earlier in the day we were supposed to go apple picking and I had the whole day planned out. We would get up early, pick apples, and then go buy some ingredients at the store and make an apple pie. Unfortunately, my amazing plan got squashed as we drove all the way out to the farm and they said there are no apples to pick ! It really sucked but I am glad we got to go for a bike ride since it might be one of our lasts of the season. We finished our day off by eating popcorn and watching desperate housewives as well as planning a day to go to a haunted corn maze! I am super excited for that. It was a really great much deserved relaxing weekend, but no its back to the grind.I hope everyone was able to enjoy the great weather and had a great weekend!

The cat's meow

You can't tell from this picture, but my shirt has cats on it:). It is my first purchase from modcloth and I could not be more pleased! The colour, the cats and the fit are all purfect ;). I wore this outfit when I had my night psychology class and Mike came to campus with me since I had a really big break before class. It was great for roaming around campus and I had comfortable enough shoes to do some walking!

On saturday, Mike and I went to Canada's wonderland! I drove all the way there but not on the highways as I don't have enough experience for that yet! It took forever without the highway but it was a fun trip. I wore my polka dot jeans for the occasion. My favourite pair of denims at the moment. They're super comfortable and perfect for going on rides!
I did not go on any rides that went upside down because I'm a bit of a baby when it comes to rides. I like rides that are fast and spinny and only have a slight drop. I still went on more rides than I thought I would. The line-ups are usually bad but because it was off season we barley had to wait for any rides. To end off the night we got caramel apples! It was actually my first time having one since I always go for the candy apple. Saturday, was a great break from all the homework I have been doing and it was great not having to think about all the tasks I have to do even if it was just for one day. Now, it is Monday and that unfortunately means that I have to get back to all the homework waiting for me to get completed. I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend and Monday!

Bad Cover Band

This weekend was a very good one! It started off with going to Cora's for breakfast. A delicious breakfast place with large portions and so much fruit! I had a raspberry crepe that was stuffed with raspberries and cream cheese. It was very good! Next, Mike and I went downtown and looked at some thrift shops and mike found some really nice shoes for 14 bucks! I was not so lucky but it was fun searching! We also stopped at Starbucks and had a pumpkin spice latte mmmmm.....now that I think of it I want one right now! After sipping lattes we decided to get ready and go out to the bars for the night. I had one to many ciders and we ended up dancing to a band with no members under the age 50 singing covers that were just so bad but so funny to dance too. All in all, such a fun weekend! The walk around downtown and the pumpkin spice lattes and the ciders got me thinking of how much I love fall ( besides the crazy amount of readings and notes I have to do). I love the leaves changing colour, I like walking around campus and not feeling all gross and sweaty, and I like wearing fall fashion and fall colours.
Shirt: Winners, Skirt: Forever 21, Purse: thrifted, Tights: Wal-mart

Well I hope everyone had a great monday! Below are some photos Mike took when he visited me on campus!

School days are here

School has been taking over my life at the moment with hours of reading. I guess that is what I get for taking nursing. I thought the first couple of weeks of school would be slack and boy was I ever wrong. Although my life is revolving around school at the moment, it doesn't mean I haven't had time to do anything fun ( or does it?). Anywho I did manage to spend sometime with Mike looking around campus. It felt so weird to be back ! Western's campus is beautiful and even though I was kind of dreading school, being at school made me more excited for it. I am excited to tackle second year.

After the first week of school, Mike and I went to the western fair ( a fair held in London ever year that has been around for quite some time). It always ends up costing way more money than you want to spend but we had a good time going on some rides and eating fair food. I am not a big ride person and people laugh at me when I only want to go on the small rides or spinny rides. I just hate rides that go upside down! In the picture I am posing beside some creepy guy from a haunted house they had there. Unfortunately, we did not go into the house.

All in all, it was a really good time and I look forward to doing more fall activities with friends and Mike. Corn mazes, haunted hay rides and hikes here I come:)

Italian Festival

Shirt: bought from let loose clothing, Skirt: Forever 21, Necklace: Ardene, Purse: winners,
Loafers: urban behaviour

Mike and I headed to the Italian festival on the weekend. It was filled with great food! I thought it would cool down later so I wore something a bit warmer but it didn't end up cooling off and I was quite hot! We got this dessert and I have no idea what it is called. If anyone knows let me know .It was good but way to big and rich to finish! The weekend was continued with girl time at the bars and getting somersby cider which was soo delicious.  We went swimming at 3 am and talked all night. I also found out my placement for school. I will be doing my clinical in the oncology unit. I hope I fit in well an that clinical goes well this term. That is pretty much an update on what has been going on with me. This week I will be getting ready and organized for school and seeing some friends before they head off to school. I also hope to squeeze in a drive-in movie :) Hope everyone had a fantastic day!

Little black dress

Dress: Urban behaviour, Shoes: Payless, Bracelet: H&M, Belt: Thrifted

Mike and I went out for dinner to celebrate the fact that I could eat solid food again! We went to a place called Spageddy eddi'es. You have to walk down an alley to get to it and it is very hidden! When you walk inside you feel like you went back in time and also feel like you are in someones casibo or house who has way too many collectibles! It is very neat. They have boots hanging from the ceiling and random license plates and weird nick knacks! It was great and what was even better is the fact that you get so much pasta! I got like a mixing bowl full of fettuccine Alfredo. I could not even get close to finishing it. The price is cheap too so that was another plus. I';m not gonna lie though it wasn't amazing quality pasta but for quantity it was worth the money! I was also very over dressed but I like getting all dressed up and I love the cut-outs on this dress. It was raining outside so we had to take these photos in my bedroom.

The next day, Mike and I went for a bike ride. We decided on going to the farmers market that is a couple km away from my house. On the way to the market we accidently took a wrong turn and ended up in another small town but not too far from my house. It was however, still an exhausting detour. We eventually made it to the market and although I had my basket, it was hard bringing back the corn and beans we bought! For a break, we bought cheese curds and ate them on the side of the road. What is with cheese curds? I swear they are so amazing and addictive!! I now leave you with some staged bike riding shots and a photo that Mike didn't know I was taking! I hope everyone had a wonderful monday!

chalk festival!

Every year in London we have a chalk festival called Imadon. This is my first year being able to attend because previous years at this time I was at my cottage. I am really glad I got to go.The talent was just incredible and my friend Megan has been participating in it for quite a bit so it was nice to see her piece in person. So much time and effort was put into these pieces and I just could not believe the detail in them. These pictures are the ones that were my favorite.

Shirt: urban behaviour , Pants: Bluenotes, Shoes: Spring, Purse: Winners,  Umbrella: Dollarama

This is the outfit I wore to the chalk festival. We took photos at the market,. It was kind of a muggy day but since it rained I though it would cool down. It didn't really cool down and I was quite hot in my pants! My bangs were being all funky too so don't mind me hair. I never would have thought that I would wear printed denim but these floral jeans won me over. Oh and you also can excuse the fact that my bra is showing but hey its black and I waaass in direct sunlight. When looking at these photos I wish I could re-live this past weekend. I am currently in bed with my face swollen like crazy and only drinking milk products and oatmeal.....fun! I really wish I did not have to get my wisdom teeth but I know it will be for the better. I cannot wait until my face is normal and I can show myself in public and perhaps eat something that doesn't contain oats or milk. I will now leave you with some photos of me at the beach that I forgot to post on the last post.
